How to make a Zeus mission in a hurry

This may sound like a joke but it really isn’t. I have noticed many of our newer Zeus require a fairly lengthy amount of time to set up their missions so i decided to share a few tips.

Step 1: Pick a theme and loadout template before even hopping in the Zeus slot
Picking a theme and loadout template goes without saying but doing it before mission starts being worked on is even better. Your players will likely be waiting in-game already. Don’t forget to decide any restrictions you may want during this process as well.

Step 2: Pick a terrain and fill it up
This is the hardest part of building a Zeus: quickly pick a terrain and garrison buildings with troops and defenses. There are no easy way to get this step done faster; practice your creativity and roll with it. If you can’t come up with a spot in less than 5 minutes, grab a spot that you know works. Alternatively you may also choose to delegate your Zeus run to someone else and take the next one instead to give you extra time to think it through. Remember: just because Zeus time is available does not mean you absolutely have to fill in, quality over quantity is what we usually prefer even with Zeus Ops. Having several basic ops that feel generic is far less enjoyable for most people than having a few very unique ops with memorable moments.

Step 3: Briefing
Briefing is the one part you do not want to mess up by giving too little information. This does not mean you should let players know of every little detail every single time as intel is not always readily available or reliable. You may choose to unveil some intel during the mission itself as well. For example: “Command to ground team, we have new intel that the depot you are raiding has a Q.R.F. at this location” all the while troops are still being transported to AO or still moving into position. These kind of sudden discoveries can be a good way to buy you some time and has a minimum interference with players. However do be careful when keeping details from players as a repetitive lack of information can easily end up being irritating. Always remember the Zeus guidelines regarding force factor and means for players to deal with threats.

Tip 1: Work in advance
Anything you can do in advance such as custom loadouts, picking terrain, picking factions involved in the operation, planning the scenario and even building compositions will greatly reduce the time you have to spend building. This speeding up of the process cannot be overestimated.

Tip 2: Placement Preview
Under Zeus Enhanced addon in Game Options > Configure Addons > Zeus Enhanced, in the first section of Zeus Enhanced there is a feature called Placement Preview. This feature allows you to preview the unit or building you are about to put down and is extremely useful. Enable it.

Tip 3: Eden Composition in Zeus
Credits to Joaol for this . Compositions can be made and saved in Eden Editor but what you probably don’t know is that by selecting the composition in Zeus with ZEN enabled, you can press Lctrl + Lalt to load the composition exactly where it was located in the editor. You may also choose to use only Lalt if you decide that you do not want the composition to snap with terrain elevation. Remember that at the end of the day, nothing is perfect so you may need to correct a few things.
